Concrete work is decided underground. The mix matters and the finish matters, but almost every failed slab we are asked to look at failed because of what was or was not under it. None of those are visible on the day the job is finished, which is exactly why they get cut.

So we spend the time where it does not show. Excavate to real subgrade. Compact stone in lifts rather than one thick layer. Set forms to a string line and a deliberate pitch. Put steel in the middle of the slab, on chairs. Cut joints on the first day rather than the following week. It is unglamorous and it is the entire difference between a driveway that lasts thirty years and one that looks rough in five.

Why Local Experience Matters Here

A crew that has poured mostly in a mild climate does not automatically know what this one does to concrete. Greenwich sits on dense glacial till with clay pockets that hold water and bedrock close enough to the surface to change a plan mid-excavation. Winter brings repeated freeze-thaw cycles and heavy road salting, so exterior concrete needs air entrainment and disciplined sealing or it scales. Closer to the Sound, salt air works on reinforcing steel year round. Up in the backcountry, long sloped driveways under mature trees create access and drainage problems that a flat lot never has.

Licensing, Insurance and Permits

We are registered to perform home improvement work in Connecticut and carry general liability and workers compensation coverage. Certificates go to you before work starts, not after you ask twice. Where a job needs a Town of Greenwich permit — driveway aprons touching the right-of-way, retaining walls above the threshold height, grading that changes drainage — we handle the filing as part of the work.

What Working With Us Looks Like

You call or send the details. We schedule a site visit, usually within a few days. You get a written estimate. If you move forward, we set a date, pull any permits, and give you a realistic window — concrete is weather-dependent and we will not pour into a storm or ahead of a hard freeze just to keep a calendar promise.
